Preliminary Course Syllabus Installing, Administering, and Configuring Microsoft Windows XP Professional

Course 2285: Two Days; Instructor-led

 

Introduction                                                      

This two-day instructor-led course provides students with the knowledge and skills that are needed to manage Microsoft Windows® XP Professional and Windows 2000 Professional–based computers in a Microsoft Windows Server™ 2003 environment.

This course will satisfy the requisite information that is needed to help students prepare for either Exam 70-210: Installing, Configuring, and Administering Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional or Exam 70-270: Installing, Configuring, and Administering Microsoft Windows XP Professional, assuming that the student is either experienced with Microsoft Windows NT® 4.0 or has successfully completed Courses 2274, 2275, 2276, and 2277.

 

Audience

This course is intended for individuals who are employed as or are seeking employment as a systems administrator or systems engineer.

 

At Course Completion

After completing this course, students will be able to:

·          Plan and perform an installation of Windows XP Professional or Windows 2000.

·          Install and support hardware devices and drivers on computers running Windows XP Professional or Windows 2000.

·          Identify and resolve boot process issues on computers running Windows XP Professional or Windows 2000.

·          Configure desktop settings for computers running Windows XP Professional or Windows 2000.

·          Configure security settings for Microsoft Internet Explorer and application compatibility for computers running Windows XP Professional or Windows 2000.

·          Configure computers to run Windows XP Professional or Windows 2000 in a Windows networking environment.

·          Configure and support computers running Windows XP Professional or Windows 2000 for mobile computing.

 

Prerequisite

Before attending this course, students must have:

·          CompTIA A+ certification or equivalent knowledge (prerequisite for Course 2274).

·          CompTIA Network+ certification or equivalent knowledge (prerequisite for Course 2274).

·          Completed Course 2208: Updating Systems Administration Skills from Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 to Windows Server 2003.

·          Or, completed all of the following courses:

·          Course 2274: Managing a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Environment

·          Course 2275: Maintaining a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Environment

·          Course 2276: Implementing a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Network Infrastructure: Network Hosts

·          Course 2277: Implementing, Managing, and Maintaining a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Network

·          Microsoft Certified Professional Exams       

·          This course will help students prepare for the following Microsoft Certified Professional exams:
